Types of Weather-Resistant Coatings
PE (Polyester Coating)
Features:
PE coating offers good adhesion and excellent formability, making it easy for processing and shaping. It is cost-effective and provides a wide range of color and gloss options. However, its UV resistance and chalking resistance are relatively limited.
Service Life:
Approximately 8–10 years of corrosion resistance under normal conditions.
SMP (Silicone Modified Polyester)
Features:
SMP coatings provide improved hardness, abrasion resistance, and heat resistance. They offer better exterior durability and chalking resistance compared to standard PE coatings. However, gloss retention and flexibility are relatively limited.
Service Life:
Approximately 10–15 years of corrosion resistance.
HDP (High Durability Polyester)
Features:
HDP coatings deliver excellent corrosion resistance and enhanced UV resistance, making them suitable for harsh climates. They also maintain good formability, allowing for efficient processing.
Service Life:
Approximately 15–20 years of corrosion resistance.
PVDF (Fluorocarbon Coating)
Features:
PVDF coatings offer outstanding corrosion resistance and superior color retention. With a stable molecular structure, they provide excellent chemical resistance, UV resistance, and thermal stability. Widely used in architectural applications, PVDF is considered a premium coating solution. However, it comes at a higher cost and offers a relatively limited color range.
Service Life:
More than 20 years of corrosion resistance.
